CHRISTMAS

Christmas, in our region, is celebrated in a very funny way. The streets are shiny and lively and we can listen to lots of carols. Christmas spirit invades everyone.

At home the family gathers together to celebrate Jesus birth. The family joins to have dinner and to open the presents. Christmas traditional dinner is very appreciated. We have boiled codfish with potatoes and vegetables and stuffed turkey. As dessert we have many traditional sweets like sweet noodles, sweet fried “dreams”, king cake, sponge cake and also some pies, cakes and chocolates ... After dinner we play games and tell stories. The youngest people are euphoric waiting for the presents opening but it only happens after midnight. At midnight we go to the “Cock’s Mess” at church were Jesus birth is dramatized.

On 25 th everybody is tired and wakes up later but the party goes on. At lunch time we have a traditional dish called “Old Clothes”, made with the remaining of dinner.

Then people go home and wait for another party, next year.

AUTUMN

O Outono

O Outono é uma estação moderadamente fria, este ano fomos presenteados com uma bonita queda de neve.
Como é usual durante o Outono em Portugal caem as folhas das árvores, já muito amarelecidas. Estas uma vez no chão formam autênticos tapetes de folhas que se movem à nossa passagem.
É durante o Outono que acontece uma festividade tipicamente portuguesa, o Magusto, Dia de S. Martinho. Nesta festividade comem-se castanhas, fruto do castanheiro. Normalmente comem-se castanhas assadas na fogueira onde, como é tradição se cantam canções típicas desta festividade.



The Autumn


The autumn season is moderately cold, this year we were presented with a beautiful snowfall.
As is usual in Portugal during the autumn the leaves fall from trees, as much yellow.
These once formed the floor mats of leaves authentic moving on our way.
It is the autumn festival that is a typically Portuguese, the Magusto, Day of S. Martinho. This festival is eating nuts, fruit of the chestnut. Usually eat nuts are baked in fire where, as we sing traditional songs are typical of this festival.

Hello my name is Tania and I have 13 years. Ando school EB 2.3 of Manhente, school is a very funny but very accurate. I have many friends there, they are super fun, very confident in them. That school is like my second home, because there spent most of the time.
I have a brother with 7 years he is very fun, and my parents support me in everything that they need a maximum.
The things I do are more like riding a bicycle, singing, dancing, watching TV, playing computer, being with my friends, be with my family, etc..
What I hate people are convinced.
The programs that I like most are strawberries with sugar; rebellious way; you on TV, and more.
The books I have read so far, and what was more like I had cancer and cured me.
The singers that I like most are Angelico Vieira; Riahnna; Maddona; etc.
I love to live in Portugal, despite the best advice your parents, but I love my parents, not exchanged for any more, but loved to know your father. Your customs, traditions, a little of everything, it may be that one day will see.

I am Helena Silva and I am 14 years old. I was born on the thirty-one of January 1995.I live in Barcelos. I attend EB2, 3 of Mahente in Barcelos. I am in the 8th grade in class E.
At school I have difficulties in English. And I love Science, Mathematics, Physical Chemistry and Physical Education.

My name is Michael, got 13 years. I live in Galegos S. Martinho, a parish of the county of Barcelos. I have two older brothers, one is nurse and other studies at the University of Minho. My father name is Jose Carlos and pottery is just like my mother who in turn is called Rosa Maria. I study at school EB 2.3 of Manhente, am lucky because I am in the best class because the students and teachers are great. My hobbies are reading, playing computer, do any kind of sport and music. Hello, my name is André Ferreira. I study at the school E.B 2.3 of Manhente, and I am thirteen years old. I was born on June ten 1995. I live in Lama-Barcelos. I am not an only child, I have two brothers, a sister who is eleven years old and a brother who is eight years old. I am a nice guy, funny, lively, playful, friend of those who are my friends and I like to help whenever I can. But I also have some flaws as being stubborn, convinced of the things I do. At school I am a committed, responsible boy, I have good grades, but if studied more I could get better results. My favourite subjects are geography and physical education, but also one that I do not like as much as the English and that much. My favourite activity is playing soccer, cycling, doing gymnastics and running. In my free time I like watching TV, playing video games, riding a bike, eating, and being on the computer. In the future I want to be an air force pilot, because it is a job that not only has a good salary, but it is not very tiring, not risky and also because I like traveling.
